The timeline reflects recent
project changes agreed to in the Berkeley Pit/Mine Flooding Consent
Decree approved by
the federal court in August 2002. The milestone dates assume
that the Horseshoe Bend treatment plant will start operating
in December 2003.
It should be noted that earlier timelines called for a technology
review around 2006-07. However, since a treatment facility for
Horseshoe Bend water will be built already, and that same facility
will eventually be used to treat Berkeley Pit water, the EPA
has eliminated the need to evaluate treatment technologies. Check
back for future timeline adjustments.
